fond memories.

one of the good things about having a blog is that it gives you the opportunity to share who/what you love with more people that you love. so, people i love. meet the people i love.

family reunion summer 2013. the cory/julie cummins family arrived friday august 2, 2013 at 11 pm. 2 hours late. i could hardly wait. they drove all the way from duncanville, texas to juneau, alaska just to see me.

(okay...maybe they came for the reunion but i am included.)

so the boat docked at 11 pm. by the time there 15 passenger vehicle drove off the boat (they have 7 children just like us and brought along ama and among (grandma and grandpa)) it was nearly 11:30. of course we had to stand around and talk for a bit. and by the time we got back to the house and our parents told us to go to bed....it was 1:30 in the morning.

this wouldn't have been such a big deal EXCEPT for the fact that my wonderful friend deidre had asked me to take her to the airport that morning. her flight...6 am. luckily, i was able to rope one of my lovely cousins to wake up at 4:30 with me.

day 1; saturday august 3, 2013; cummins family reunion
4:30 came. it came way too early.

this is my dearest cousin cora. she is my age. 19. she has a precious heart.

we got up. took deidre to the aiport. thennn went and got coffee. stopped at the beautiful glacier. and then sat in the car, in my driveway, and talked until 7 am. then we woke up the rest of the sisters and went garage saling. (garage saling isn't a "real" word and the computer is yelling at me.)

the very first garage sale we stopped at had a bubble maker. obviously we needed to play in it.

valerie--my sister--loves when i take her picture.

this is addie--my cousin, a cory/julie cummins--trying to pop the bubbles. lovin' the face.

i don't even bring 30 dollars garage saling...and i didn't leave with it so obviously this person lied and i really didn't NEED it.

this was my favorite purchase of the day. it is genuine leather. guess how much i paid. yep. you guessed it. one dolla. holla!

i may or may not have stolen this picture but this is *most* of the cousins who went garage saling. we are missing dear morelle.

this was the view as we were driving out north douglas to the beach.
*i think i can see my house from here*

we had a nice little train of people carrying picnic supplies.

FAIL.

only a semi-fail.

happy camper.

FAIL.

this one is actually pretty good. all of the cousins.
(me, cora, elsie, morelle, and melinda)

going strong without coffee and a nap.

she is beautiful.

my poor grandparents along with ama and among (that is Taiwanese for grandma and grandpa) had to make it down this.

the view from our picnic site.

the wonderful face of uncle val. (otherwise known as THE BIG VALLEY)

guess which legs are mine.
i'll give you a hint. she is from texas. i am from alaska.

snapped this one of the two lovers (my sister and her boyfriend) walking through the woods.

this is a giant net hanging from the trees. safe? does it sound safe?!

but they went up into it anyway. like 6 or 7 of them.

cora and i didn't want to go in the big net while everyone else was in it. so we walked to this bench. cora's first thought, "this would be a cute proposal spot." some man out there take note!

don't ask me what they were doing. i have no idea.

everyone got out of the net so cora and i decided to get in. i climbed up first.

she doesn't look nervous but she was.

we did it!

and then everyone started coming back in. i got nervous.

(melinda, carson, and cora)

looking down through the net.

rob (cousin callie's boyfriend) is like a monkey when it comes to climbing trees.

these two are two of my favorites.

coltin jamers climbing into the net

i asked him to smile with his teeth.

this is what i got.

oh sweet perfection.

quinn (sister emily's boyfriend).

it was a good day. we played capture the flag in the woods. we sang around the fire. roasted hot dogs and marshmellows. ran out of liquids. and got bit by bugs. what more could you want?

cora and i in the car read to go home and sleep for 100000 hours. don't we look great?

***i just wanted to point out that cora and i went THE WHOLE DAY on three hours of sleep and one cup        of coffee.
